30 Day Book Challenge

Day 3: Your Favorite Series
i usually prefer stand alone books to a series, if a book is a part of a series it has to be really intriguing for me to bother to start reading it. but there is a one series that i absolutely love and that’s Ann Brashares’ The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants Series. i just love all the carachters and the storylines. they’re easy reads but still deal with real issues in a complex and realistic ways. the original series consists four books; The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, The Second Summer of the Sisterhood, Girls in Pants: The Third Summer of the Sisterhood and Forever in Blue: The Fourth Summer of the Sisterhood (which i only own as finnish translations as you can see from the picture). Ann Brashares also wrote a fifth book to the series few years ago, called Sisterhood Everlasting, which picks up the story ten years after the fourth book finished.

if you’re looking for a great summer read i definitely recommend this series! i definitely will be reareading it once again in the upcoming summer.

want to take part in the 30 day book challenge, you can find the dates here.

If Anne Brashares were Andy Brashares this is how I would imagine The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants would be marketed. It still has a bit of feminine flair with the sparkles, but overall the cover is neutral or a little more inviting to male readers. There are a few variations of the original cover, but here’s this one.

This is part of the coverflip challenge that the lovely Maureen Johnson presented, and this is my other coverflip

(Coverflip is one of my favorite tags now, honestly.)

And as we spend those last few moments of summer looking out at the blending of sea and sky I realized it was a color I knew very well: The softly faded essential blue of a well-worn pair of pants.
